How do I add a tool link in Blackboard?

You can provide the relevant tools for a lesson near related content or on the course menu. When you include a link to a tool in a content area, you can describe the tool, provide instructions, and attach necessary files. For example, you can link to a blog, attach a file to read, and explain that students need to post to the blog next week.

Instructions

On the course menu

  1. Click on the “+”

  2. Select Tool Link.

  3. Name the link.

  4. Choose the appropriate tool from the Type drop-down.

  5. Check the box Available to Users if you would like to show this link to students.

  6. Click Submit.

The new tool link will appear at the bottom of the course menu. Instructor users can drag/drop the link to anywhere on the course menu.

In a content area

  1. Click on Tools.

    • Select More Tools to show or hide additional tools.

  2. Select the appropriate tool from the list, and follow directions to add the tool to the content area.

Each tool has different steps to add it to the content area.
