How do I show/hide Blackboard Grade Center columns?

This article shows instructors how to hide or show columns in the Full Grade Center. It will go over steps for both hiding a column from student view (in My Grades) and from their own view (in the Full Grade Center).

Hide a column from student users

If you would like to assign all students a grade before showing the column to student users:

  1. On the bottom left menu, Control Panel, click on Grade Center. Then choose Full Grade Center.

  2. Click on the action link (arrow button) at the top of the column you would like to hide from students.

  3. Select Hide from Students (on/off) to toggle the column’s availability. A circle with a line icon will appear at the top of a column that is hidden from students.

This hides this column and scores from students in the My Grades section of the course.

Show a hidden column to student users

  1. On the bottom left menu, Control Panel, click on Grade Center. Then choose Full Grade Center.

  2. Click on the action link (arrow button) at the top of the column you would like to hide from students.

  3. Select Hide from Students (on/off) to toggle the column’s availability. The circle with a line icon will disappear at the top of the column.

The column should show to students in the My Grades section.


Hide a column from the instructor view of the Full Grade Center

This will hide the column from you as the instructor.

  1. On the bottom left menu, Control Panel, click on Grade Center. Then choose Full Grade Center.

  2. Click on the action link (arrow button) at the top of the column you would like to hide.

  3. Select Hide from Instructor View.

You will no longer see the column in the Full Grade Center.

Show a hidden column in the Full Grade Center

  1. On the bottom left menu, Control Panel, click on Grade Center. Then choose Full Grade Center.

  2. Choose the Manage button, and select Column Organization on the menu.

  3. On the next page, scroll down and look for columns that are italicized and gray in color.

  4. Check the box next to the column you would like to show.

  5. Select the Show/Hide button and choose Show selected columns.

The font should change to regular font without the word “Hidden”

  1. Click Submit at the bottom of the screen to save these changes.
