How do I drop grades in a Blackboard Ultra course?

Instructions

  1. Enter your Ultra course and select the Gradebook tab from the top menu.

  2. Add a calculated total column, or edit an existing calculated total column (example: Overall Grade, Midterm, Final)

    1. Select the title of the column and choose the Gear icon in the pop-out tray to edit the column settings.

  3. On the next page there is a list of categories, columns, and calculated columns in the course. Drop grades are setup in a Grade Category.

    1. For example, if you would like to drop the lowest quiz grade, all quizzes would have to be in the “Quiz” category and must hold weight towards the final grade.

  4. Navigate to the category that needs drop grades and select “Edit calculation rules.”

  1. A side panel will pop out. Make sure the Enable setting is checked (green) and select Drop Grades. The Use Only function will let you choose to only count the highest or lowest grade in the category.

  2. You can type the amount of grades you want to drop into the boxes.

  3. Select Continue to finish the setup.
