What are the course type options in Blackboard?

There are two main course views in Blackboard - Original and Ultra - but there are other types of courses used that will help with theThis article will show examples of the course types that we use at UA.

	Original Course View This is the current look and functionality of a Blackboard course. All courses will be in Ultra Course View by Spring 2026.
	UA Ultra Practice Course All faculty and instructors have a practice course named UA Ultra Practice Course. This course: Contains a welcome document that gives instructor resources to get started with Ultra. Is a free space to practice! It has no other users and no student enrollment. → Request another practice course → Learn more about your UA Ultra Practice Course
	Ultra Preview Course An Ultra Preview Course allows instructors to view their Original content with an option to preview the content in Ultra. Note the orange pencil icon (Experience the new Learn) in the upper right corner. This tool allows you to activate the Preview. Once you convert the Ultra Preview Course to Ultra, you cannot return to the Original Course View. → Request an Ultra Preview Course → Learn more about previewing and preparing your content for Ultra
