Adding video content to a Blackboard course

We recommend adding videos to Panopto or another video hosting site to ensure the best user experience for students. However, instructors may want to add a short video file directly to their Blackboard course.

Instructions

1. In the Course Content area, choose the plus sign (+).

2. Select Upload to upload a file.

3. Choose the file from your computer and select OK.

Large videos

Instructors should avoid uploading large media files directly into Blackboard Learn; trying to host these files directly in Learn results in very large course size and causes students difficulty when trying to view course videos, particularly on slower internet connections.

Instructors should add videos and media in Panopto and share to their students via a link to Panopto within Blackboard Learn. Panopto is designed to host and serve large video and media and includes various options to make the video experience better for users. These include: automatic captioning and chapter divisions, searchability, download and viewing options, and more.
