Assessment Settings in Blackboard Ultra
Availability
Students can't see a test until you make it available to them. You can use the dropdown menu in the top right corner to edit an assessment’s availability.

The Details & Information section contains settings including the due date and time, prohibit late submissions, prohibit new attempts after due date, and class conversations.

Presentation Options
The Presentation Options section allows you to control how the test's content is presented to students.
Display one question at a time
The Display one question at a time option forces students to move through each question individually so that they can only focus on one question at a time. Enabling this option may help to enhance browser performance, since only a single question is loaded per page.
Prohibit backtracking
The Prohibit backtracking option can be used to require students move through the test consecutively. This is important when upcoming questions provide hints or reveal answers to earlier questions. With this setting enabled, once students answer a question and continue to the next one, they can't go back. If a student skips a question, an alert informs them that they can't go back once they've done so.
You must have Display one question at a time enabled in order to use the Prohibit backtracking option.
Randomization
Randomize questions: With this setting enabled, each time a student begins a test attempt, the questions appear in a different order. If you include references to the question numbers as they appear on the Content and Settings tab, don't use the Randomize questions option. The random order changes the question numbering and may cause confusion.
Randomize answers: When you have multiple choice or multiple answer questions in your test, you have the option to enable this setting. With the setting enabled, each time a student begins a test attempt, the answers appear in a different order.
Randomize pages: If your assessment includes questions across multiple pages (for example a page of Multiple Choice questions followed by a page with Essay questions), Randomize pages randomizes the order in which these pages are displayed.
If your assessment is set to randomize pages, Do not randomize first page allows you to lock the first page in place if the first page of the assessment includes instructions or other information the students must view at the beginning of the assessment.

Assessment Results
The Assessment results section allows you to control how students see feedback, scores, and answers once they turn in their assignment.
Allow students to view their submission
This option is turned on by default. Select or deselect the checkbox to turn the setting on or off, and use the dropdown to choose when students are allowed to view their submission. If Allow students to view their submission is turned off, the other options will automatically be disabled.
Show question feedback
If you have added question feedback to any of the questions in the test, you can choose to show that feedback to students by enabling this option. Students automatically receive this feedback based on the release settings you provide.
This option is turned on by default. Select or deselect the checkbox to turn the setting on or off, and use the dropdown to choose when students are allowed to view feedback.
Show question scores
Showing question scores allows you to show students the number of points they received for each question in a test. By default, question scores are set to Available after all grades are posted. Select Available after all grades are posted to open the Assessments result timing panel.
Provides the individual scores for each question of a student's test. You can decide when this information is released to students.
Show correct answers
Select Show correct answers to allow students to see the correct answers to automatically scored questions after they submit.
Additional Tools
The Additional Tools section provides several more options to customize your test.
Add a time limit
A time limit can keep students on track and focused on the test. Each student has a limited amount of time to submit. The test attempts are saved and submitted automatically when time is up. You can also allow students to work past the time limit. Time limits can only be added to individual (not group) tests.
Add a grading rubric
A rubric is a scoring tool to evaluate graded work. Rubrics can help you evaluate student submissions based on key criteria that you define. You can create a new rubric or associate an existing rubric in your course. You can only add a rubric to a test without questions.
Add goals and standards
You can align a test to one or multiple goals. You and your institution can use goals to measure student achievement across programs and curricula. You can also align individual test questions to goals.
Make a group test
You can create a test for groups of students. By default, you assign a grade to each group as a whole, but you can change a group member's individual grade.
