Duo - Getting Started with Okta SSO

Step 1 – Log into myBama

Visit myBama.ua.edu and log in with your UA or Crimson email address and password. This email address should be the one tied to your myBama username.

Step 2 – Start setup

Once you’ve logged in, you’ll be presented with a screen to start set up. Click the “Set up” button.

Step 3 – Select “Enroll”

Next, you will be presented with a Duo screen that prompts you to enroll. Click the “Enroll” button. You will be redirected to set up Duo.

 

Step 4 – Begin Duo Enrollment

Begin enrollment by clicking “Get started.”

Step 5 – Select “Duo Mobile”

On the following screen, you will select Duo Mobile to begin the process of getting your phone connected.

Step 6 – Enter your cell phone number

Enter the cell phone number tied to the student’s device. This should not be a parent or guardian’s number.

Step 7 – Select “Send me a passcode”

Confirm your phone number and select “Send me a passcode”

Step 8 – Enter the passcode you received via text message

You will get a 6-digit passcode from a generic account. Enter this code on your computer and click “Verify.”

Step 9 – Install Duo Mobile on your device

Visit the app store on your mobile device. Search for and download the Duo Mobile app.

Step 10 – Activate app

Once you’ve installed the app on your smartphone, open the app and activate it by following the on-screen prompts. Click Add Account. Hold your phone up to your computer screen to scan the QR code.  If you are not at a computer, you can click the link to have an activation link emailed to you.

Step 11 – Success

You’ll receive a success message. You will be given an option to add another device. If you have multiple phones or a tablet, we encourage you to do this. When you are done, click Continue to Log in.

You’re ready to use Duo!

We recommend adding two devices, so that in the event a user gets a new phone, they will still be able to use Duo. Learn more about this and more on our frequently asked questions page.
