How to Obtain LastPass

Enterprise

Faculty and staff may register for an Enterprise LastPass account to store UA passwords.

Visit the link above to activate your LastPass Enterprise account with your myBama username and password. Once the account is activated, you will receive an email confirming the account. Click the link in the email to set your new LastPass Enterprise account master password. Make it a good password, it will protect all of your other UA passwords! The UA Enterprise LastPass account is protected with Duo two-factor authentication, so be prepared to follow the Duo prompt with your Duo-registered device. If you are not an active Duo user, please activate your account at duo.ua.edu.

Next, download the LastPass browser extensions. LastPass works as an extension of your browser to keep your passwords in a secure and encrypted environment. Download the extension for your browser at https://lastpass.com/download . Once the browser extensions are installed, login with your new LastPass credentials and you’re ready to use LastPass!

Personal

Students, faculty and staff may register for a LastPass Premium personal account to store personal passwords. Personal accounts must be registered with non-UA email addresses. This is so that if your time with UA comes to an end, you will retain access of any personal passwords stored in LastPass.

Visit the link above to activate your LastPass Premium personal account. The UA LastPass Portal will request your UA email address as well as a personal email address.  UA will not have access to any of the information stored in your personal account. Your @ua.edu email address is required at this step only so that LastPass can confirm your status as a UA student or employee. You will then receive a confirmation email in your UA email inbox. Click the link in the email to confirm your account. You will then be directed to a webpage to set your LastPass master password. This is now the most important password because it will protect all of your other personal passwords. Make it a good one, and make it one you can remember! Once your password is set, you will confirm your account and you’ll be ready to use LastPass.

If you already have a personal LastPass account, please visit the link above to enter your UA email address and the email address associated with your personal account. This way, we can guarantee you receive the Premium version. If you already have the Premium version, one additional year of free Premium will be added to your account.

Next, if you have not already, download the LastPass browser extensions. LastPass works as an extension of your browser to keep your passwords in a secure and encrypted environment. Download the extension for your browser at https://lastpass.com/download . You can also download the LastPass mobile app to your mobile device to keep your passwords secure on the go. Visit your device’s app store to download the app.

Once the browser extensions and mobile apps are installed, login with your new LastPass credentials and you’re ready to use LastPass!

Once a year, LastPass will send an email to confirm that you are still a current UA student, faculty or staff member to continue your free LastPass Premium account.
