Instructions

  1. On the Course Content page, select the plus sign wherever you want to add an assignment.

  2. In the menu, select Create to open the Create Item panel and select Assignment. The New Assignment page opens.

  3. Enter a name for the assignment. The assignment name will also show in the grade center column.

  4. Complete the Assignment Information and Settings:

    • Instructions:

      • Select the plus sign to open the menu to add text, files, and questions.

    • (Optional) Assignment Files: Attach assignment files. 

      • Click the plus sign and select Add local file or Add file from Cloud Storage.

    • Due date: Assignments with due dates automatically show in the course calendar and will be marked late in the grade center. Late submissions are also tracked by the Retention Center.

    • Grade category: Assignments are automatically set to the Assignments category, but you can change the category by clicking on it.

    • Grading: Assign the maximum points for the assignment by clicking on Points.

    • Attempts allowed: Assignments are automatically set to allow 1 attempt, but you can change the amounts by clicking on it.

Availability options.

Students can't see an assignment until you choose to show it.

You can create all your content ahead of time and choose what you want students to see based on your schedule. You can also set availability conditions based on date, time, and performance on other items in the course gradebook. On the Course Content page, students can see when you set the assignment to appear.
