Blackboard Third-Party Tools & Integrations Overview
Third-party tools refer to external applications that integrate with the Blackboard learning management system to enhance its functionality. These tools can be accessed and utilized within Blackboard courses, offering a wider range of features and resources for both instructors and students.
Integrations allow you to easily access information, documents, and services outside of Blackboard.
Support for Third Party Tools
The Center for Instructional Technology supports the integration between third-party tools and the learning management system, Blackboard. This means we support the connection between our system and a third-party’s platform.
The Center for Instructional Technology does not directly support third-party tools or publisher content platforms. If you need assistance with these products, please contact their Technical Support.
Retention and Ongoing Maintenance
The Center for Instructional Technology reserves the right to disable or remove any integration that becomes a vulnerability to the system. We will review third-party integrations periodically and will assess whether integrations continue to meet the needs of UA’s LMS users.
Resources for Vendors and Developers
The University of Alabama will not install integrations that are still being developed. Vendors and developers needing access to a Blackboard Learn instance for integration development should explore Blackboard Partner programs.

Make a Blackboard Integration request
If you are interested in adding a third-party tool as an integration to Blackboard:
Contact CIT as early as possible when requesting a new REST API or LTI integration. We recommend contacting our office a full semester in advance of implementation to allow time for the approval process.
