Message

Instructors may receive a message that states “This paper was submitted to a class that is expired, and is currently in read-only mode.

Read Only This paper was submitted to a class that is expired, and is currently in read-only mode.

Explanation

A class is created within Turnitin when instructors create a Turnitin assignment in their Blackboard course. By default this class has a duration of 6 months. When the class “expires”, the instructor will receive the above message when trying to edit a score or feedback for a student submission.

Example: If an assignment is made available on May 6, the course will expire on November 6.

Longer Turnitin class duration

Instructors have two options if there is a need to edit feedback or submission scores for a period of time longer than 6 months.

  1. Add an assignment with a due date after the 6 month default. Using the example above, instructors can add an assignment with a due date after November 6 to override the 6 month duration time.

  2. Ask for a manual extension of the Turnitin class duration. CIT can request this from Turnitin Support on the instructor’s behalf. Contact CIT for more information.
