Known Issue - Students get an Invalid Format error when accessing third-party tools

Problem

Student user tries to access a third-party tool (MindTap, WebAssign, etc.) and gets an error message that starts with “Invalid locale format: false ”

Solution

Sometimes the system default language pack is incompatible with the third-party tool. Follow these steps to resolve this issue:

  1. Navigate to ualearn.blackboard.com.

  2. Login with your myBama username and password.

  3. Click on your name to access your Blackboard profile.

  4. Under System Settings, hover your mouse over the language “System Default (English (United States))” and select the pencil icon to edit this option.

  5. In the popout tray, choose English (United States) from the menu.

  6. Click Save.

Now access the third-party tool link to confirm the error is resolved.
