What can I do when odd characters populate for the password on the Respondus LDB dashboard?

Problem

If an instructor adds a password to a test that is using Respondus Lockdown Browser, the settings on the test may cause Wingdings characters to populate instead of text.

Solution

The "Windings" characters can appear from certain settings in the exam, or the exam was from a course copy of a much older course archive.

  1. On the Course Management menu, choose Course Tools.

  2. Then Respondus Lockdown Browser to enter the Respondus Lockdown Browser dashboard.

  3. Click on the settings menu (arrow button).

  4. Choose Settings.

  5. If a password is present, remove the password.

  6. Then choose Don’t require Respondus Lockdown Browser for this exam.

  7. Click Save + Close.

Repeat steps 1-4 and then select the option Require Respondus Lockdown Browser for this exam. Click Save + Close to finish the process.
