What do I do when I edit a Discussion post and it does not save my edits?

Problem

An instructor cannot edit a post in a discussion board.

i.e. In a Discussion Forum, there is a post that contains instructions. The instructor tries to edit the post, but the edits do not save.

Solution

There is a software defect that may cause this issue. When an instructor copies content from another course and tries to edit a discussion post, their edits are not saved. The solution is to change the author of the post from Anonymous to another user.

  1. Navigate to the Discussion Board.

  2. Click on the Forum in which the post is located.

  3. Hover your mouse over the post, and click on the action link (arrow button) that appears.

  4. Choose Change Author.

This should change the author to the user the performs this action. This change should allow instructor users to edit the post successfully.
