Workaround - Students are unable to attach a file to a file response test question

Problem

If the Blackboard test is set to open in a new window, students are unable to attach and submit a file when trying to attach a file to a File Response question. There is no obvious error, the file just will not attach.

Solution

An instructor can follow these steps to make the test open in the same window:

  1. In your Blackboard course, click on the arrow button (action link) next to the test title.

  2. Choose Edit the Test Options on the menu.

  3. In the first section, Test Information, choose No for Open the Test in a New Window.

  4. Click Submit.
