How do I create a test or survey in Blackboard?

Do you already have a Word document version of your test? View this article to upload it into Blackboard: Respondus 4.0 - Test Management Tool

Instructors can use tests and surveys to measure student knowledge, gauge progress, and gather information from students. Remember:

  • Creating a test does not automatically make it available to students. You must also deploy the test in the course.

  • Survey results are always anonymous unless you ask for identifying information in the survey questions.

Instructions

Create the test and add a question

  1. In a content area, click on Assessments then Test.

  2. On the next page, click on the Create button to create a new test.

  3. Name the test and optionally enter a link description and test instructions.

  4. On the Test Canvas, select Create Question and select a question type.

  5. Provide the necessary information to create the question and click either Submit or Submit and Create Another.

Question point values

On the Test Canvas, you can change a question’s point value.

  1. Click on a question’s current point value on the right side of the question.

  2. In the Update Points pop-up, edit the points.

  3. Click Submit.

Check the Test information at the top of the page to view the total point value of the test.

After you are finished adding questions, click OK at the bottom to add the test to the list on the Tests page.

After you create a test you must also deploy the test into a content area to be visible to students. View this article: How do I deploy a test in a Blackboard content area?
