Audio Descriptions in Panopto

Audio descriptions are used to describe visual elements of a video to viewers who may have vision impairments. To add audio descriptions to a video, you must have Creator access to that video.

Adding Audio Descriptions

Start in Panopto’s Video Editor:

1. On the left-hand side of the screen, select the Audio Descriptions tab.

2. Select the point in the video timeline where you would like to add an audio description.

3. Enter the audio description in the text box provided.

4. Hit enter when you’ve finished typing the description.

5. When you are finished adding audio descriptions, click Apply in the top right corner of the page to save your changes.

Editing Audio Descriptions

Start in Panopto’s Video Editor on the Audio Description tab:

1. Hover the mouse over the audio description you would like to edit, and click the three vertical dots that appear.

2. Click Edit.

3. Update the audio description and click Save.
