How do I combine my Blackboard sections?
A supersection is when two or more Blackboard courses are combined. There are a couple of ways that Blackboard shells are merged. The following guide is for instructors to combine their courses using the Blackboard Learn Section Maintenance tool in myBama.
Warning. Do not combine the following:
Lab/recitation with lecture sections. This causes issues with student enrollment and grades in the course.
Sections that currently have content. The merge process will make the individual course’s content and student submissions unavailable.
Instructions
Once your sections are available in Blackboard Learn, they can be combined.
Navigate to the Blackboard Learn Section Maintenance tool in myBama.
Click on Choose a Term and choose the desired term in the list.
Click on the tab to Combine Sections in Blackboard Learn.
On the next page, check the boxes next to the ungrouped sections you would like to combine in Blackboard Learn.
Click Combine Sections into Supersection.
To proceed with combining your sections, choose OK when asked to confirm.
A message will appear that your request has been submitted. The combination process can take 5-10 minutes. Once this is done, the sections will be shown as combined. You will receive an email confirming that the sections have been combined.
